The Comprehensive District Overlay Plan. It's a multi-phase strategy.

Hurricane Michael altered the infrastructure needs of the entire county.  The projects and priorities for the SGI 2025 VISION are dependent upon the county decision makers.

The St. George Island Corridor District Overlay Plan is a comprehensive revitalization strategy for an 18-block area in the center of the island surrounding Light House Park and extending from the entrance of the island to the beach in the areas zoned for business. To address problematic areas of the fragile eco-system and to improve the livability for island residents, the project was initiated by the Infrastructure committee of the Civic Club and now incorporates input from volunteers, island residents, the local business community and extensive research on community planning. After six public workshops, communication through the website, facebook, Oyster Radio and the Apalachicola Times, the Infrastructure Committee is working on a final plan for Civic Club approval. If approved by the membership, the Civic Club will submit the request to the County Commission. If the Commission approves, the Civic Club will work with County staff to prepare the official grant applications for state and federal funds. Assuming these requests are approved, the Committee recommends the following priority list for multi-year funding and implementation.

SGI 2025 VISION — Projects and Priorities

Sponsored by the SGI Civic Club

The SGI2025 Plan is a proposal in response to the Ordinance 2018-02 SGI Business District Overlay.

No requests for funding or approvals have been granted for St. George Island's Business District Overlay Plan at this time.

On behalf of the SGI Board of Directors, we thank all the volunteers for their countless hours of research, preparation, measuring of distances, website creation, travel to meet with other communities and govt officials, photos, and endless commitment to SGI and the SGI2025 plan development.
